Are you one of the many Haringey residents struggling to part with items you no longer need? You’re not alone! A recent study found that Brits hold onto an average of 17 unused items, and decluttering can feel like a daunting task for some.

Local decluttering expert Dilly Carter from Sort Your Life Out emphasizes the importance of letting go of unused items for our mental health and energy levels. Decluttering can have a significant impact on our overall wellbeing.

With autumn approaching, many of us are looking to give our homes a seasonal clean. Did you know that 16 per cent of Brits declutter in September? Haringey residents can sell unwanted items on platforms like Facebook Marketplace, Vinted, and the Post Office’s own platform, which offers a safe and secure drop-off service.

What stops us from decluttering? Some find the effort involved daunting, while others underestimate the value of their belongings. Fear of needing items later in life is also a common barrier. Dilly Carter suggests seeking guidance from a professional to overcome these obstacles.

From old technology to unread books, Haringey residents hold onto various items that clutter our homes. By decluttering, we can create a more peaceful living space both mentally and physically. Before you start clearing out your cupboards, consider how decluttering makes you feel. Remember, it’s about creating space for what truly matters in your home.
