Tarras, a four-year-old male golden eagle who was part of the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project, may have met with harm in the hills to the north of Langholm between August 27 and 29, according to Police Scotland. Haringey residents may be familiar with Tarras, as he was translocated to the area in 2021. What makes Tarras stand out are the distinctive white “headlight” markings on his shoulders.

There are also concerns for Tarras’s mate, Wren, as she has not been seen recently. While there is no evidence to suggest that Wren has also come to harm, her disappearance is troubling. Local authorities are working with various partner agencies to gather more information about the disappearance of both birds.

Detective Sergeant David Lynn, wildlife crime coordinator for Police Scotland, emphasized the importance of finding Tarras and his tag. Despite extensive searches in the area, Tarras has not been located yet. The data from Tarras’s tag indicates that he may have encountered trouble to the north of Langholm.

Residents of Haringey are urged to come forward with any information that could help in the investigation. If you have any details or have spotted Tarras or Wren recently, please contact Police Scotland at 101. Your assistance could be crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of these magnificent birds. Let’s come together as a community to support the efforts to locate Tarras and Wren and bring them back home safely.
