As the festive season draws near, Royal Mail is gearing up for a surge in demand that will see it create over 12,000 new jobs across the UK, including in Haringey. This hiring spree comes as the delivery giant prepares for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the Christmas rush.
For Haringey residents, this means an increased presence of Royal Mail in our local community. The company will be setting up four extra seasonal sorting centres in nearby towns, including Atherstone, Milton Keynes, Northampton, and Daventry. These centres will play a crucial role in handling the growing demand for parcels and mail during the busy holiday period.
The new jobs will include 12,000 permanent roles at mail centres across the country, as well as 3,000 delivery and collection positions. There are also 2,000 temporary HGV and MGV driver’s roles available for those who enjoy life on the road. These roles are open to applicants from all over the UK.
Royal Mail interim chief operating officer Jamie Stephenson emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring a smooth delivery service this Christmas. “We’re working hard to make Christmas special for our customers,” he said. “We plan months in advance to ensure everything runs smoothly.”
For local residents in Haringey, this presents an opportunity to support their community during the holiday season. Whether you’re interested in working as part of the Royal Mail team or simply want to keep track of your mail delivery, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
The new seasonal roles will be available from late October through to early January 2026, giving Haringey residents a chance to embrace the holiday spirit. So if you’re looking for a part-time job or want to lend a hand, Royal Mail is now recruiting in our local area.
