William, Kate, and their children are getting ready to settle into their new eight-bedroom Grade II-listed “forever home” Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park. However, for local residents in Haringey, this move comes with some changes to access in the area.
Signs have been put up warning of the permanent closure of Cranbourne Gate and Cranbourne Car Park in Windsor Great Park, with the site officially closed as of 7pm on Sunday evening. This closure has left local dog walkers frustrated, especially those who live within half a mile and used to be able to apply for keys to the gate for a fee of £110 a year.
Workmen have been busy erecting additional fencing at Cranbourne Gate and around the 2.3 mile perimeter of the reported 150-acre no-go zone. The Windsor Great Park website has posted a notice stating that access via Cranbourne Gate will permanently cease on Monday, with Cranbourne Car Park closing as well. However, parking will still be available at Rangers Gate Car Park just down the road.
The Wales family’s move to Forest Lodge marks a fresh start for them after Kate’s recovery from cancer. Currently residing in Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, they also own a 10-bedroom mansion, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk, and Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace. It’s important to note that trespassing on a protected site designated under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act (SOCPA) 2005 is a criminal offence.
Local residents in Haringey should be aware of these changes in Windsor Great Park as they prepare to welcome the royal family to their new home. Stay tuned for any further updates on this developing story.
